diy bookshelf speakers that would be a good starting point for a beginner to succeed?

A review by owner of genuine LS3/5A says there sound better and are easier load right drive.

Can be made of plywood or foam core. Complete plans and crossover schematic in thread.

I'm not familiar with what 'foam core' is / means?

could I use MDF for the LS3/5A?
