Still planning a passive crossover? Add a couple pounds for iron core inductors…. And a few days annoying the neighbors with MLS impulse test tones. Last time I was out tuning up a PA speaker crossover they enjoyed the music more than all the “PSssssht” at 100 dB.
If they’re leak free (buzz free, no dumb mistakes made tuning them) I’d just be using them.

For now yes. Though cosmetics are important to me as well. I am glad I went through the hand build process. It reminded me how tedious builds like this can be if your missing some basic tools. I found that using 3 ribs, (top bottom center) and assembling them around the ribs, back, front, sides, top bottom with the brace in place but not glued until the end, worked pretty well.If they’re leak free (buzz free, no dumb mistakes made tuning them) I’d just be using them.
Will biamp for now, but still plan to at least try a passive crossover. I can drop a few pounds by switching to a different CD. I panic purchased the RCF ND1450 when I realized they were pretty much the last option available in the US. They are quite heavy at 8lbs.
I see Beyma has a new 4.4Ib unit called the CD-314ND which looks interesting and is reasonably priced.
Quick update. Duratec is done so these things should be wrapped up pretty soon. On a side note on the sub. Currently in the middle of a small Portuguese festival. It’s a night mare situation. Showed up and it’s a sand pit more or less. Anyway first time using the Beyma sub. (15LEX1600) I am pretty much in love with this thing. 1 man carry. Sound is musical, none of one note bs. Of course it doesn’t go as low as the VRX18sp’s but the output is just as good if not better and in my humble opinion it sounds way better and I'm only hitting it with 1200 watts. Their diy enclosure design definitely gets a big thumbs up from me.
Finally have them wrapped up minus the grill. Tested tonight and I am super happy with the results. Only "ear" tuning so far. They get loud and sound very clean. 41 pounds and very compact. Honestly they sound like a "loud" version of my klipsch "Heresys".
I will say that I wish I had a bit more power for the mid range than these little LG amps can give, but it is more than enough for most of my gigs. Looking for a PS K3 for my Beyma subs cause they definitely need more hp to keep up.
Thank you all for the advice along the way! Could I have purchased an "off the shelf" unit cheaper? Maybe, but I still haven't found the perfect "off-shelf-solution" for me and at the end of the day, I like to build things so.....no regrets. I don't think there is a way to post video here but if I can I will.

I dont think you could have purchased “off the shelf” cheaper. Something truly equivalent would be stupid expensive. What you COULD buy cheaper might sound very similar played at coffee house volume but go completely to hell with 400 watts of average power going into it.
+1.
DSP-driven cheap speakers can sound pretty good.
... Until you want to turn it up a bit. Then, as wg_ski notes, they sound pretty bad pretty quickly.
The good stuff keeps getting louder and louder and louder.

You will not get the same quality cheaper off the shelf. The handles should be improved, you will not be happy with them in the long run.
I'd also flush mount the bass but I would not change it after the fact anymore anyway.
Nice work, looks great!

Agree on the handles. I was trying to stay as small as possible with them to have the least impact on the structural integrity of the box but they are not ideal. They are not comfortable with back of hand inside but they are very solid. Dish is plastic but the bar is metal. Fortunately these cabinets are light enough that it is not an issue. I grab them from the front or back "one man lift" and it is not a problem. As far as flush mounting the low/mid range driver is concerned: IDK maybe that would be better. If I were to do that in another cabinet iteration, I would definitely add some thickness to the speaker baffle for sure. Currently focused on building out the remaining subwoofers but I have every intention of building a new version of these enclosures eventually.
There are a few things I'd like to update. One is the NL4 connector as well as the shape of the cabinet. I would also use an 18mm front baffle. Other than that I am happy and to be honest, that likely wont happen for a couple years. 5 gigs done with them already. No issues. Hopefully many more.

One more thing that is really important. If you are going to build diy speakers, make sure you have a plan for the grills. Custom grills can be very costly. Definitely recommend ordering premade grills first and build your box dimensions around them.
And this is corrected. Well at least my attempt at it. HP at 96 hertz.

I will say, besides the obvious roll off around 17k. Crossed over at 850hz this combination of drivers and horn work out pretty nice. I been working them in the local bar here for the past several months and so far nothing went up in smoke. Also, I see I made a mistake in an earlier post. The HF driver is an RCF ND950.
