I have a 8 inch recessed speaker and the driver do not have a gasket. As it is , i am installing the metal basket of the driver on the cutout.
It is important that i be able to remove the driver in the future.
I took a foam sheet and cut it to dimension, that will do the job for now but i am curious about what other fellow DIY'ers did in this situation.
What is your favorite materials and methods to make a speaker gasket ?

Cut it out of a sheet of EVA rubber, a dense spongy material.

I cut thin strips out of a "recycled" heating pipe isolation tube used for construction work, probably closed cell neoprene.
EVA foam from craft section at the store.
Variety of carpet backing sheets.
Pipe or O ring in foam material.
Might get open cell PU or neoprene foam sheets in Industrial supply suppliers.
Whacko...I did it for a fridge...silicon sealant between newspaper, there was a gap in the gasket, company had closed, gasket not available.

See if the foam pipe used for A/c work (insulation for indoor to outdoor pipes) is of useful density, it is available in different sizes, very cheap, just slit it, and cut to length, stick with contact cement to either speaker or cabinet.
Similar material may be used in automobiles as insulation or speaker component.

Expensive option is expanded Teflon sheet, very effective, available in different thicknesses and densities.
Normal use is chemical plant gaskets etc.

What is the thickness of this insulation? What I am thinking of is maybe 1/4"~3/8" thick.May be repeat of earlier posts...

That is the pipe inner diameter.
Wall thickness is 3 to 6 mm, foam, will compress quite a bit.
The idea of a gasket is to take up the gap between surfaces, and to act like a vibration absorber in this case.
Both are solved by this choice, and it is expected to be for outdoor use, so quite durable...
