Wire wrapping tool.
1. Start with a 16d Common nail. Cut tip off and file flat.
2. Anneal about 1 inch of the nail.
3. Center punch the end and drill a 1/16 (.0625) blind hole about an inch deep right down the center.
4. Then drill a #60 drill (.040) blind hole about 3/8 inch deep half way between the edge of the center hole and the edge of the nail.
5. File and/or grind a knotch to expose the #60 hole and taper it so it will allow a wire to slide up and out.
6. On end of the nail, file/grind a small chamfer from the small hole towards the edge of the larger hole. This allows the wire to "turn the corner" from vertical to horizontal in the wrapping process.
7. Wrap the shank with cord if desired.

Works quite well. See the photos where a resistor was wrapped around an existing pin as a demonstration.
