Folding BiB style horns?
Can one add additional folds to a BiB style tapped horn? Is there a particular reason I shouldn't try this?
Sorry, i've got the bug to build absurd things 🙂
Attached are two different layouts. A "Swan" looking contraption, and an "L" version.

Can you lay these types of horns on their sides and have them fire into the corner of the room?
If so, how much space should i leave between the mouth of the horn and the opposing wall?
Also, the room is carpeted, will that damp out the wall/boundary too much? If so, i guess i could just cut a piece of wood to go from the mouth to the wall.
Can one mess with the Depth to Width ratio as long as you end up with the same Sm?
Is this a worthwhile endeavor, or does there come a point where the extra length doesn't help you?
Greets!
Yes.
Experiment to find the gap for flattest in-room response.
Not the LF, though it will roll off its mid/HF BW some. Anyway, yes, you can always attach a piece of plywood to the end of the mouth to cover the carpet all the way to the corner.
As the width/depth ratio moves away from 1:1.4142 you create an impedance mis-match between the entry/exit of any bends. IOW the pipe shifts one constantly expanding pipe to a series of expanding resonant couplers which causes dips/peaks in the response just like any long/large vent, but never having done any testing, don't know how audible it may be. My SWAG is it probably has to be pretty extreme to be obvious down low, though higher up it was quite audible in some folded mid-range horns I've auditioned.
As long as the mouth grows in area to go along with the extra length, then the point of diminishing returns comes when the horn is trying to load down in the room's gain curve where it begins stalling out the driver.

Re: Folding BiB style horns?
Greets, part deux!
Yes, bass-horns typically have many folds.
None other than the point of diminishing returns I mentioned in my previous post.
Looking forward to reviews of your 'adventures' in pipe horn design. 😉

GM, thanks again for the help.
I'm using the BiB formula to calculate the mouth size for a given line length. Which means that the mouth is actually smaller when i make a longer length. Should I be using a different method?
My plan was to try to use the general 1 octave lower than Fs tuning that is recommended on the BiB site and just follow the formulas to get L, Sm, and Z-driver.

You're welcome!
No, that's fine as more of the WLs are being confined by the horn with increasing length, ergo you don't need as big a mouth.
That said, if you're adding to an existing horn you need to continue with the same expansion rate, it just means it will be larger and have more gain.
