better? These posts create confusion for people who are not fully able to understand measurements or circuits. When they read them, they just can't figure it out, assuming that all pre-phono units have problems and errors. The fact is that Audioscience is pretty much the only one that deals with measurements, and regardless of personal beliefs or errors, if you establish a standard of measurement, even if it is not quite right, and use it consistently on all the devices tested, you will still have comparable results on which to base a judgment, even if that judgment is not perfect, it is something. Has anyone else gone into measurement in a more scientific way? That is a question, and I am not trying to be anyone's “defender.” Of course, it still offers a good service for laymen like me, helping us at least in part to avoid being cheated or believing simple exaggerations instead of facts.

This is a DIY forum, isn't it? Can't we simply rebuild the FosiBox and adapt it to our individual requirements?

I swear I checked that it was translated but I don't know why I posted it in Italian... sorry, I'll be more careful... I hope.
I would love to give the cult of the SINAD some credit here, occasionally they will hit a sweet spot, like the take down of the PS audio regenerator. They do a lot of damage as well, convincing followers that their analytical minds can conquer and control our subjective senses. Splitting hairs in DACs was fine but they failed to expose the truth that scientifically the differences between DACs should for the most part be totally inaudible. Then they falsely assumed that these methods could be applied to amplifiers or speakers, attempting to revive the thd wars of the 70s and 80s. Declaring the benchmark amp the finest ever created because of distortion measurements while dismissing the ACA or tubes for the same reason is laughable. Scientific imperfection in audio is only one small factor and in some cases desirable to ears, to completely dismiss this is obtuse…... I still believe has risen the quality of audio gear after all - with a few bumps on the road.. anything can be improved.

What are we talking about? I can't understand. The measurements don't reflect certain characteristics, but that's how it's always been, so why would it be different for a phono stage? It's confusing. Then we talk about DACs... Apart from the measurements, we all know that each manufacturer has a type of sound in its products, which is what allows us to make choices. If everything were neutral and identical for everyone, there would be no more market. Coming back to the Fosi phono, I think it's in the same order as the DAC. A good product for 100 euros. I'm not sure the production cost exceeds 20 euros all-in. You just have to buy it to see what it's worth. It's also not a product in the class of the Meitner Audio DS-EQ2 at 5,000 euros.
