I have a grado ME+ mono for playing 50's+ mono LP's & have a few different arms from older Ortofons, an SME 3012 to a formula 4 unipivot. Also an LP 12 with a Fidelity Research arm.
I assume the heavier arms would be better. - This for playing a good classical LP colection in VG condition from my father, - Decca's, Mercury, Phillips, RCA etc.
Any comments?
Thanks,
R.

The grado is a higher compliance moving iron cart and would work better with lighter arms. Heavier the arm the more likely to get the grado dance
The compliance of the ME+ is 20 um/mN. This is in the moderate to high range.
Use a medium to low mass tone arm.

Thanks for your replies. - And I just thought probably the SME 2012 or the Fidelity Research arms would be OK!!
That korf site is quite enlightening, but I'll need a few days to read & digest it all. - Most interesting & I'm pleased I have a new HI-FI news test disc.
Thanks again.

Thanks rayma. - I thought the formula 4 would be for light weight/high compliance cartridges.
Re the LP's, most were classical stereo with a few mono. My Dad was quite fastidious with LP's & naturally cleaned them & the stylus before playing & more-or-less kept up with the technology of the day, having come through the "78 era" with quite a few shellac records.
The LP's were mainly played originally on an Elac mag. mono cartridge, - not the stereo's, - by then it was an Ortofon SMG-212 with an SPU-GT MC cart. The main ones are Decca, RCA/Dynagroove/Readers Digest sets, Phillips, Erato, WRC, Rec. Soc. , Mercury, &, DGG. There are a few Nonesuch, Checkmate, Command, Vox etc. & even a 10" Emery Cook somewhere - (Mozart G-min). Obviously for me, they carry a lot of happy memories.
Added to this rather Large collection is my own from the sixties until the CD era. Being almost all classical orchestral though, (A few Jazz - Lincoln Mayorga, Polydors - James Last etc., I would not have thought they would be worth much plus, I'm "Down Under" in Oz land so shipping could also be a problem.
