Help with FR207 diode.

Hi 🙂

I am ordering some components from Reichelt and when I was searching for FR207 i got this as result Security Check

FR207 = FR207G = BYV96
= Not identical with BYV 96E

Can I use byv96 as replacement, if not what is correct replacement for FR207, thanks.

I need 8 pcs, 4 for lm317 power supply and 4 for jlh headamp kit.

If you need that high voltage/current parameter all of them are in the same ballpark the BYV part is the faster switching for SMPS/converter applications, if you are using them as low volt rectifier parts its like running a Corvette in a disney land parklot

The power supply has a lot of capacitance? High voltage rectifiers don't get a long with high current pulses

The FR series are fast recovery diodes. Hence the FR on the number.

The BYV96 series are also fast recovery, but while the BYV96E is a 1000v part, it is only rated 1.5A, while the FR207 is a 2A part.

To replace the FR207, look for a fast recovery 1000v 2A part. Which includes FR207.

Jon's link says standard recovery, but the data sheet from Farnell says fast recovery.
