Can anybody say anything aboute the Nao woofersystem?
I have a Eminence Gamma 12 in a closed box (x2) aboute the size of the Nao. I tougth cutting the back of the case and make it open in that direction. It 's going to be used with the Bastani Prometheus open baffle speaker. How do the Nao compare to a nice H-baffle?
regards

I recall a post at http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/discuss.cgi that it didn't sound too different from an Orion.
I've heard the Orion bass and its very natural clear and impressive.

It works grat 🙂
I have changed my box'es so they are open like the Nao. It works better than the sealed box I think. The dipol bass is so much more in the room, and not in the box. I'm not shure aboute the settings in my active x-over. I now have +3 dB at 30 hz and are cutting at 100 hz - 24db/oct. Have to use it for a while to figure it out.

You probably know that the key factor is baffle width, relative to wavelength; and that U frames are basically just a close realtive to dipoles.
+3 dB at 30 Hz sounds too modest. If you read the theory on dipoles at www.linwitzlab.com, IIRC SL suggests 12 dB/ octave boost.

How are you determining appropriate boost?
I’m getting SoundEasy in the post in 3-4 days, which you may know now has U frame modelling capability written by John K.
It will take me a little time to get the hang of it, but as I’m going to model & build a U frame myself, if you like, I’d be happy to model yours.
Cheers
