Krell KRC preamplifier info

Hi All,

I have Krell KRC preamplifier and try to find more technical information about it. I tried to find a service manual or some circuit but unsuccessfully. Does someone have more info about it. All capacitors has been replaced and it sounds great. The bad thing here is that the preamp cannot be switch off from the device, The only way is the turn off is from the power socket. I digged a little bit looking the board and found out there are two relayes which should be used for switch off/on the preamp but they are not used at the moment. That why I am looking for some circuit because I want to make it workable. They may be used when there is some issue with the device but who knows.

Those relays pictured mute the signal, nothing to do with power control.

I cannot agree with you, these relays are power relay not signal. I already checked them and there are 34V on the default switched contacts.

i have the hr version and if the power sipply is plugged in the preamp is always on

Footnote 1: The owner's manual cautions against turning the amplifier on or off with music playing—easy to do inadvertently with the remote switches. However, Krell advises that they have always had such a caution, and that the likelihood of damage from this action is, ah, remote.

I once owned a KRC 3. It had no power switch and was not meant to be powered down. Had a big sound stage but was dull and lacking detail.

As I know there is a big difference between krc-hr, krc, krc-2, krc-3 models.
