Krell S300i volume control

Help please. My Krell S300i volume control had been playing up for a while, volume jumping up and down all over the place. Now the volume is stuck on 35 which isnt too bad but would like to be able to a adjust volume! It also doubles as a switch to changes functions when pressed. Thats not working either. Any idea where I should look for a replacement?

Those multi-function press-to-select rotary switches have always been a cheap crappy way of designing equipment.
VCR's used them too, (jog/shuttle duty) and I've had a lot of them fail in sets brought in by customers.
Isn't Krell supposed to be a "better level" company? - I guess they went "el-cheapo" with all the others.
They sure don't make stuff like they used to as the old saying goes.

If I remember the story correctly, Krell Industries Inc. was subject to a hostile takeover Dan D'Agostino was essentially fired. That would be like the equivalent of Pass Labs firing Nelson Pass. Here is a video:
So Dan started Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems: https://dandagostino.com/ . I'm guessing Krell bought the name and sells stuff with the Krell logo. But under that machined aluminum knob is a 0.25 cent mechanical rotary encoder. It's good for a few spins before buying a new one and provides maximum shareholder return. Dan on the other hand sells really, really no expenses spared equipment.

If you can find a replacement encoder and install it, then it should work normally. Post some good photos
of the encoder. Or maybe someone knows the part number.

I broke my nose on a KAV 400Xi not long ago, it's a bit the impression that it left me compared to other production.

Thanks so much for your responses everyone. I think Im on the right track to getting the replacement part. Holy smoke that amp is heavy. I think I just sprained my wrist.

I just saw this thread. Did you managed to get the part replaced? I also have the S-300i. I couldn't find the part, so I ended up taking the rotary switch apart to clean it. I suspect the lubricant (clear like gel/grease) may have degraded over time and cause intermittent connection issue. After that, I just put a bit of grease and it works fine.
