Hi

Are there people here who had the chance to hear both the Lepai LP-2020A+ and the Lepai LP-2020TI amplifiers?

Parts Express say
For years the LP-2020A+ dominated the mini amp arena, but due to the scarcity of the Tripath TA2020 amp chip, Lepai is phasing out this very popular amp. However, emerging from its decline is the Lepai LP-2020TI. Identical in form and function this little amplifier has the same set of inputs and the same front panel controls, but where it differs is the insides, and it is truly remarkable what the engineers at Lepai have created in the LP-2020TI.

...

Focusing their design around the Texas Instruments TPA3118 amp chip, they created the LP-2020TI. This new amplifier from Lepai, though it contains no legacy amplifier chips, overcomes its predecessor in both flexibility and performance.

...

Using the Audio Precision Analyzer, an industry standard in measuring audio equipment, the LP-2020TI comes out a real winner - it easily out performs the LP- 2020A+. Measuring THD+N vs Frequency the LP-2020TI produces 14 watts per channel at 1% distortion when playing a 1 kHz tone. This is double the power output at 1% THD+N that the LP-2020A+ is capable of at 7 watts per channel.
Officially, the LP-2020TI has better parameters..
But in reality, when listening, is there a difference between how they sound?

If yes, which one is more preferable?

Thank you
