I saw a circuit many years ago where they ran the 723 at a high temperature to stabilise the reference diode voltage (6.2 or 6.8V IIRC) for precision applications. It’s a very versatile device.
For low power, low noise applications I like to use local regulation and an LM4562. Easy to get nV of wideband noise performance.
