MUSES02 pricing?

What is your application?

A cheap Chinese DAC that cost less than $200. The 4 x OPA1612 in it right now sound ok. The 4 x fake OPA1612 in another identical one sound even better, surprsingly good in fact, but they required that I make tiny heat sinks for them because they run so hot. That little DAC sounds great now, after adding heat sinks and running it through my Furman PL-8C power filter.

I'm going to try the Sonic Scientific Oracle II - 02 based on a recommendation: https://www.facebook.com/sonic.scientific Only $6.50 each from one of the two authorized sellers: https://www.aliexpress.com/i/2251832834352133.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt

@Never Get Old did you received the Oracle II-02? Impressions?

I did get them, and I have listened to them in comparison to others for some time now. My impression so far is that they are not ideal in this particular application. That is not to say that they would not work differently in different applications.

I can say that they run the coolest of the op amps that I have tried in this application. I also can say that they sound "analog" in this application, with no "digital glare" added.

Unfortunately, I also feel that they have weak and lifeless bass and sub-bass when listening to live blues performances. See this thread for more about the music:

https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/iso-audiophile-blues-and-jazz-on-cd.399588/

The bass lines are there, but I feel that Oracle II-02 is weak in comparison to Burr Brown 2604 (genuine not fake) and the Chinese fake OPA1612 labeled "OVII" (with my own custom heat sinks added PLUS ventilation perforations because the OVII run HOT) that came with two of the units. Oracle II-02 are smoother than the genuine OPA1612, but with the same issues that I am citing here.

I also feel that the top end is rolled off with Oracle II-02 in this application.

If you have an application where you feel the bass is boomy and needs to be lessened and cleaned up a bit, and also the system is bright and hard at the same time, then maybe Oracle II-02 would be a good option. Again, it would depend on the application I suppose. So far, they rank last on my list of op amps in this application.

£3.24 | 2 piece MUSES02 MUSES 02 Dual op amp for audiophiles 100% Original

Not sure of the source but these seem to pass the tests of being genuine muses02's
Looking at pictures people posted in reviews, these are not original.

Aliexpress is insanely dubious platform. If you want original chip, get it from mouser or any other verified retailer.

If you do buy from dubious places, one way you can check is quite easy, muses legs are copper. Very very pliable. And top print is quite obvious.

team2 arrived yesterday and the first thing he does is advertise for an ali salesman, it doesn't leave much doubt about his motivations for coming here.

It's silly that people want cheaper products that are way below market price, and expecting them to be genuine. Then cry (or even worse convince themselves in a lie that it is), and in the end purchase proper item from a proper retailer, spending more money, nerves and time in the process....

From the seller's picture, the round indent is located between the first and second leg, and from my experience opamps with this misplaced indent tend to be fakes.
It's supposed to be right on the first leg and nowhere else.
P/s: Also the fakes usually have a flat "stamped" circle, and not a sort of "rounded" indent.

I was looking at buying a pair of muses02's for less than 50 or 60 pounds a pop. I'd looked at many genuine vs fake posts on the net and looking at the ones sold by the seller on aliexpress and a reviewer stating them to be original, as he has originals to compare them to from Japan thought I'd take a chance on them. Someone else kindly directed me to a possibly better option on aliexpress. That's all bud. I've been reading up for ages on pre amp mods e.t.c

Anyone got experience with Muses in general from audiophonics in France? Little cheaper than mouser at least.
Otherwise profusion has the muses01 pretty cheap and is authorised by njr, don’t know about the 02 though.
