Hi all!
I've just bought a new amazing amplifier!
The problem is that I've no contact adresses to get some schematics in case of technical failures.
The brand is LIMIT, type: power amplifier G-series FPA-G12
specifications:
2x 1000W 8ohm
2x 1400W 4ohm
1x 2800W 8ohm bridged
there are 48 toshiba transistors inside and a huge toroid transformer
weight 43kg
S/N ratio > 100dB
tot harmonic distortion < 0.05%
I've also found on the internet an other brand with the same type of amplifier, brand: FIDEK http://www.fidek.com.hk/productdetail.asp?prodid=570
Can anybody give me some contact adresses or other brandnames. Does anybody recognize this amp?
Any comments on this amp are also welcome.
best regards,
HB

You did not tell those guys, you bought it from a street merchant in Amsterdam... you will not get a lot of support that way!

After a few years, I suddenly found the service manual of this amp (by coincidence)... woohoo!!
for those who are interested: service manual
I know the amp was designed very well, but I'm still pretty amazed when I look at the schematics
This amp is a beast!

Good schematic, but there s a few misdesigns...
The worse is the use of a MJE340/350 pair as common emitters
part in the cascoded VAS..
It make sense as common base part for the cascodes, although
there s far better devices that suit this purpose.
Also, they use a heavy shunt compensation resulting in a low
slew rate of 40V/uS wich is not really enough for such high
level output...
They use 120V 2SA970/2SC2240 as common base part in the
input differential, and althoug it s enough since they see only 72V
EC voltage in normal functionning, they can t sustain the 144V
rail voltage, wich is not cautious since at power on, there can
be quite different conditions than when voltage have settled...
Other than that, construction is serious...

This is a PA amp. OK for disco. Built like tank.
Having said that, my amp is rated at 280W per channel and does around 500W into 4 Ohms and it weighs 38Kg . . .
