Pa horns/tweeters

Is this for an instrument amp or PA speakers? That is two different applications, for the instrument amp a small super tweeter is used with a simply high pass filter at 5khz but for a PA speaker a much larger horn and compression driver is used and it carries a larger portion of the load with a crossover at 2khz or lower.

$50. For that the King of Cheap is the Selenium D220Ti. Unitl/if/when the PRV "equivalent" is ever field proven. (They run about $35 for equal specs, but they don't have the history the Seleniums do, yet.) But you do have to buy a horn lens - starting around $15. Get one 12" wide and the pattern and low frequency limit should be good enough.

Don't buy anything that's "all in one" or has less than a 1.7" coiil to save money - unless it's only used as a 5KHz+ supertweeter. One or two replacment diaphragms later you may as well have just gotten the D220.

In the USA, look at the Eminence Delta Pro 12A, they have decent bass in a medium sized box, a very good midrange, handle a lot of power, and are not that expensive.

A friend's PA with same. I don't like rat-fur and expanded metal, but he does.

The tops are flat to 50hz for stand alone use in a small situation, the subs get added for a large club.

Parts Express has free freight, and comes with thread-on adaptor.

I bought my four from Erich , and ended up paying more (with freight).

PE is also very flexible for returns.

I wish I had bought a couple of their DNA-360 to try out.

What kind of presence do you get from the SEOS-12 at a distance, compared to a deeper horn? Does it beam much? For live sound, I'd be concerned with how shallow it is.

I own a pair of B&C DE250s, I'd be curious to A/B compare one with the DNA-360. As it's a less expensive knock-off, the difference might all come down to listening fatigue...?

I think PE's free shipping is for orders over $98. DIY Sound Group has an attractive website, tho I've never ordered from them; I wasn't aware of their stipulations.

The SEOS (or Econowave for that matter) are short-throw horns. Neither one beams. The depth controls the lower cut-off point for crossover purposes.

It's pretty much a copy, including relevant materials that might control listening fatigue.

I have no problem with DIY Sound Group, I have bought drivers, horns, and baffles from them. Their prices are fair, and their service is prompt; first rate all the way around. My point still stands on PE as regards free freight, a return policy, etc.

It works great for live sound. Similar or less distortion than the qsc waveguide. An exponential would probably load it better, but it's a good compromise. Just keep realistic expectations of clean output levels. It gets a little harsh compared to a 3" diaphragm when asked to keep up with a high output midbass at 1.4k.
