The laser itself hardly ever breaks down. A couple of years ago an Aussie guy here on diyaudio offered FREE CDM-1 laser replacement, I can't recall his name. There was not much interest, probable because of sentence #1.Apparently the laser that's required is the S type compact version. Anyone know where I can order one from?
Willcycle. I have a CDM-2 Pulled from a Philips CD473 many years ago. I will put out some pictures here on the thread. If you are interested I will send it to you without any cost. Send me a PM when you have seen the pictures. I don´t know the status of this one but there is a good chance it might be working ok.
