Hello,
Pioneer has a PRO series driver line-up in their car segment.
These are some wonderful full-range, two-way, tweeters and sub-woofer drivers.
I recently purchased a TS-M650PRO. I want to build a vented enclosure for it.
However, except for their sub-woofer, the TS-W1200PRO, they do not give TS parameters for any of their other drivers.
Has anybody used the TS-M650PRO and has modeled it for its TS parameters?
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!

That's a pretty looking driver - very high tech. Looks like a mid-range, but you never know it may just be a full range capable "mid range". We won't know until they or someone plots the measurement. Specs say 50Hz to 18kHz which would imply full range in my book.
Given that it is car audio, the TS params will invariably be high Qts design. It may work well in an OB or a spiral sealed TL like the Nautaloss. Street price seems to be $90. Almost up there with the PRV 5MR405NDY which is 95dB and handles 225w and goes up to 15kHz and has known response ans measured TS params.
Perhaps we should look at car audio drivers more? The problem is, car audio manufacturers never seem to provide TS params for their drivers (except subs).
That is lovely. Accordion surround, phase plug and a chunky magnet. Be better if it cost $29.99.
Except for their 6" x 9", all the rest are offered with least 32% discount.
I hope that it comes close to your expectations!
I am presently using this in a 35 liter sealed enclosure with a current driver and a sigmaDSP based processor and the results are fantastic.
I can stop here but could not stop wondering how it would sound if I used a ported enclosure with an added HPF and hence this post.
Thanks for your replies and your interest!!
$30 and I would buy it. 🙂 I am curious about the response though so if you can post a measurement in a sealed box that would be appreciated.

A lot of those car audio "subs" will play up into the midrange. I'd argue that the Alpine Type R 8" woofer makes a fine midbass, and if you have a compression driver, it'll work with that too. (All the Type Rs have demodulation rings to lower inductance. The Type S are underhung.)

I believe that $90 is for a pair.... So $45 each anyone? 🙂
The PRO Series need to break-in too!!
Note that like most speakers, this need to break-in too.
So If you buy this, make sure to reserve your judgement for a couple of days.

FWIW, they were my 'bread n' butter' drivers for most of the speakers I built for others since cheap with punchy bass for young families living in apartments along with pets was my core market, so mostly used large ovals since they made the most [mid] bass and gave a bit wider pattern vs vertical.
Back in the early 2000s we went through a lot of mobile audio drivers for 'FR' alignments due to several things, among which Pioneer began its Pro series with some pretty good performing co-axes using ultra-lite diaphragms for about $60/pr IIRC, or ~$81.50 in today's $$$, so seems a little pricey at $90 without knowing more about them.
The Pioneer rep was very helpful with providing specs, all of which were the typical low Vas [can't remember the range], 50-60 Hz Fs and ~0.65 Qts in the 6.5" & 6x9" sizes, so OB, TL, Voigt pipes tuned to 35-40 Hz or sealed were the 'order of the day'.
I doubt these are any different.

Indeed, if the TS parameters are in the 0.65 Qts and 50Hz fs - these can be ideal for MLTL and TQWT's.
Bimbla,
Have you ever measured the TS parameters?

Did you end up figuring any of the technicalities out?
Or did they just sound alright in a randomly sized box? i figure about 0.5cu ft would do it ... ?
Hmm, its 50-18 kHz is at -20 dB, so with it designed for doors, 'kick' panels the only 'simple' vented alignment that makes sense [to me] is a well stuffed TL, though short of a large BLHorn it's properly marketed as a mid-bass.

re: $29.95, I've used the 8" version of Crunch Screamer - its level on axis to ~9KHz, has a good stamped steel basket, and would probably male a nice 3-way open baffle or "FAST". The 8" was available in 4 and 8 ohm. It also came in a 6.5" version.

a pretty phase plug does not guarantee good response. I bought a cheap Boss 10" woofer which had a pretty poor top end, dip and peak - probably from a chromed rigid plastic decorative "ring" which is connected to the voice coil former.
$29.95 - Qts IIRC may have been in the 0.5 region - I one in an old K8 copy

They handle midbass really well, but im using them for vocals. Im installing a JL 8w7ae to handle my midbass
I have the TS speakers in my parcel shelf and want to isolate them from the subwoofer underneath them.. doesnt sound great when i turn it up loud.
What you're saying sounds about right... ill give them about an inch of space on the sides and maybe 3-4 underneath and just cup them in there...
