Hey guys, I'm new here and not overly familiar with modding my speakers but I'm a control systems engineer with over 20 years experience... I can solder, ;-). Anyway I've resurrecting my surround sound speakers... I just got done with a divorce so I am limited on what I can spend for new goodies... I have a complete set of RCA linaeum center and surround sound speakers, 40-5011, 40-5007. They have spent most of their life in storage, not climate controlled... and the surrounds have disintegrated. I replaced the surrounds on the center channels a few years ago and would rather just replace the speakers since now all 4 surround speakers have bad surrounds as well. I pulled apart one of the surrounds and it says that the woofer is 6 ohm... I'm guessing that I should replace it with another 6 ohm but that seems easier said than done. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction for something affordable. I read that many people really like the tweeters after a little modification on the crossovers. Anyway, if I could get some tips it would be great.
Thanks,
Steven
