That would depend on what you mean by "good". Some aim for a sound which pleases them; others aim for a sound which reasonably accurately reproduces the original sound of the musicians. Problems occur when these two quite different aims are confused. In either case people can decide to like the sound produced by the equipment they have just made or bought, however well or badly engineered it may be.

Not the answer you where looking for.

Now to finally end this thread;

With no thanks to you guys i build the full wave bridge rectifier with earlier recommended diodes, the C4D02120A.

It works like a charm!

This PSU sounds a lot more quiet, more relaxed so to speak then the stock version so i'm very pleased with the result.

Over-engineered, probably!
But to make a final point here, what is the problem with it if it sounds good?
When i told you lot that the dac took 250 mA per deck it was over engineered, so what again?

This is an audioforum, the only thing we need to achieve is that everything we make or create sounds good!
How nice you spent about 9 dollars for a full wave bridge you like . If what every one told you which applies to your question was of no help then SORRY . In life every one must make their own chooses as you have here . One should not ask question here if one is unable to accept facts from very well trained and experienced people in the field . DF96 cover it very well your divergences from engineering to season to taste was as I understand it not the question ask thus the no help at all. :sax:

But… SmartDriver, after all the interceding discussion … did you learn something? Note - even this is a trick question.

Straight: you could have learned a bunch about the high-Vbreakdown nature of diodes. You could have learned a bunch about rectification. Etc…

Trick: You also could have learned that when placing “help me!” messages on this Audio DIY forum, you are not in control of the direction of discussion, and a whole lot of us just might get interested enough to start talking the various sides of your issue.

Double trick: you might also have figured out (or are now just…) that following the sage advice of “whomever” might work great (your experience), or if it hadn't, perhaps all the squawking of us scarecrows might have been more accurate advice.

In which case you really did learn something! Straight up, tricksy and double dutch bus.
