Sorry but what do you mean by 'off spare'? I can look up quotes if you give me a city and postcode.
Old engineers term for quantity I have 4 spare new and unused
Check the surrounds and/or be prepared to replace them. The surrounds of those units are prone to degradation in time, as is the case with P17's and several SEAS-units from those days. Replacing them is not that hard, reproducing the exact specifications though will be a challenge.
That's great to know. I acquired a set of ariel mk5 enclosures and crossovers and am trying to finish them. I've seen other threads talking about replacements but wanted to first try and get the intended drivers for the design.
When replacing the surrounds, do the drivers take on a different spec?
Also, I can't find a driver that is 140/115 OD/ID and will have to adjust the enclosure cutout. Any newer drivers that perform close to the p13 or similar/better that are similar in size?
I acquired the enclosures and external crossovers and know absolutely nothing about building or adjusting crossovers. Any good resources I should look at if I use another driver and have to adjust the crossover?
Thanks for your help!
Hi Brianpj,
I'm fighting this very issue. I have the ME2 satellite version and I built the Ariels for a friend some years ago. The surrounds have hardened to the point that Fs is over 200Hz.
I found a company in Europe that is selling new replacement surrounds that they advertise as original OEM replacements. I have ordered a pair to see how they work. It will probably be several weeks before I receive them and get one installed to test.
1 x RUBBER surround for repair Vifa P13WH-00-08 (Kurt M.)
I have also ordered a generic pair of butyl rubber surrounds. Depending on how they look and feel I will try one of them. I am also willing to try foam surrounds if these rubber/plastic options don't work out. I really like my ME2's so want to get them going again.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!
Have you considered replacing with a newer driver? I don't know enough to compare spec and am relying on forums for advice. I've seen a few drivers mentioned as good replacements but not sure If I can just drop in a different driver without changing anything else.
I've looked around at other drivers. None I can fine would ne a physical match, I.e., would require some woodwork. The Monaco SPH-130 looks like it might be a reasonable electrical and acoustic fit but would require a bit of tweeter attenuation according to the sim in WinISD. I'll post whatever results I can produce.
I have also tried softening the existing surrounds but I think it may be a short lived result. My report starts at post 34.
