Ghetto I know.. the house fire burnt up my fluke. it was nice being able to measure capacitance.

I don't care what you have. This isn't a contest. I just wanted to see what you had to work with.

If you can't switch off the tone for the low-ohm range, just ignore it and look at the display. If the numbers are changing, let them stop before you make any conclusions.

As a side note, an experienced tech with that meter (or even less) could run rings around a newbie with the best meter available. I know. I was that newbie 35 years ago. I had $20k in brand new Sencore equipment and couldn't do a fraction of what the tech I worked for could do with the most basic equipment.

I hear that .. what were you seeing with the comparators?were you saying it's looking like a leak or shorted output transisters?
