I have a problem with static on 2 channels. The strange part is , its not always the same channels . It is either Chanel A or B and occurrs on both speakers on the channel with the staic. There doesnt appear to be any other signal on the channel when the problem happens. It seems to come and go when moving any of RCA inputs (Not always the one for the channel that doesnt work) . I have tried all possible configurations of RCA in . Using 3 seperate inputs or combination of mixing by using the Xcards and switches. The static will also come and go by turning any of the Gain pots.It is always switches from left to right and is on both the A and B channel for that side. The static happens with the car off and running. I haven't removed the AMP from car yet , But I have some test gear and power supply and was wondering if anyone knows a good place to start troubleshooting. The RCA jacks look okay and the solder looked okay . I didnt get a real good look because it was still in car trunk.

You should remove the amp and take the back cover off. Check the 3 ground pins for the RCA shield ground and make sure none are broken.

The pots are either dirty or defective. Likely just dirty. I clean them with an electronics cleaner and compressed air after removing them.

I took the amp out of the car , there was some light corrosion on the bottom of the board and the grounds check good on the RCA jacks but I am going to reflow some solder joints that don't look so great. Does anyone know if its common for the silk screen to bubble up and come off in some spots of the older PCB's ? The pcb itself doesn't appear to have heat damage. Also does anyone know where to buy the tape they used under the MOSFETS for thermal xfer . There doesn't seem to be any kind of thermal paste on them at all . They where all stuck to the tape pretty good so it has some torn spots. I am going to clean it up and reflow some joints before I put it back together and bench check it Anyone know where to get Schematics that have part numbers , I would like to replace the RCA jacks if I can find them .
