Rotel RB-960BX Crackling Intermittently

Hi This may not be the correct thread but Iv only just joined. I have a Rotel RB960BX, and it has started to crackle intermittently, Iv have traced it to the right hand side of the power amp, Iv cleaned the speaker posts and cannot see any obvious problems, (bad soldering damaged tracks etc) I read that the caps can fail, any help and advice would be great

Most likely a bad connection or a resistor. Not going to be in the power supply.
You can try freeze spray, or poking around with an insulated tool, to localize it.
Do not start just replacing parts, that is never the best way.

Capacitors are not the most likely part to cause this sort of problem, so do not start
replacing them in an attempt to eliminate the noise, regardless of other suggestions.

Hi,
Most probably the rotary to sliding switches needing a contact cleaner blast and then a lot of exercise. They are liable to suck in dust and other pollutants leading to intermittent crackling.

As advised - clean all your contacts first (with power off) usign the correct deoxit spray.

If that doesnt work you will need to find and download the service manual at hifiengine.com and work from there.

its most likely a failing small signal transistor - as advised above DO NOT start replacing caps.....
