Hi Everyone
I recently used some Rubycon ZL capacitors in the Aksa Nirvana Plus upgrade kit and have been very impressed by them.
I now want to source some more but have not been able to find a supplier in the higher values. Well, I did find one supplier, but this required a minumum order of 1000 units!
Can anyone tell me where to source these caps. I did do a search but didn't come across anything other than people asking the same question!
TIA

If you don't mind importing them, Reference Audio Mods in the US have a very good range and have no minimum order quantities.

I have found them in the (2004) Farnell CD catalogue. Perhaps you have one of their agents or a branch or two of theirs in Oz?
Farnell certainly do them, and I belive RS components do as well.
BTW, I agree, along with the ZAs they are my favorite electros.

Thanks for this information! I have already tried Reference Audio Mods as well as Farnell and RS Components here in Australia but none of them carried the the higher values and voltages that I was after.
I will try contacting Farnell and RS in the States and see what I can find and report back.
Best regards to all,
Bluesky

Despite trawling through many pages of capacitor listings in both Farnell and RS, I still cannot find the 120uF ZL caps I am looking for!
Oh well, the adventure continues!
Cheers

I don't know of any caps available in 120uF. The nearest you're likely to get is 100uF or 150uF. What do you need them for?
Hi Bluesky,
go to farnel or rs and click on the datasheet, this will show all values (and voltages) that are available from Rubycon (not necesarily stocked by Farnel or RS, doesn't that $%&^ you!!! I hate it when the stock every value except one!!!!! which is of course the one you are after). I'm not sure about the ZL's , but the ZA's don't go very high in either voltage or value.
Tony.

Rubycon caps are a favorite of mine too. I work with SMPs and we like their cost/performance, espeacially at the output. Their low ESR and Ripple capabilies are among the highest for the price... I routinely get samples of whatever I need, but I do not have a source in the USA to purchase??? Newark(USA Farrnel) lists them but has almost no inventory??? Thanks for the above link...

yes Nordic they are
the ZA's are super low impedance, I haven't used the ZL's .
hihopes, do you mean that someone else is or are you refering to the rumor that black gates are no longer being manufactured.....

My understanding is that they stopped some time ago. If it is only a rumour, I will be very happy.
Hi everyone
In answer to a previous question, the ZL's are to be used in a kit amp project that specifies 120uF 63V ZL's and that is why I want to source them. Plus I want to get away from using Black Gates for some reason, just to be different and "ornery" I guess!

Also looking for Rubycon ZL
Hi,
I'm also looking for a convenient source of Rubycon ZL caps that I can purchase or import into Australia.
I have done a comparison between the Panasonic FC, Nichicon KG/FX series and the Rubycon ZL, and for low impedance and high ripple current the ZL is considerably better. I'm looking for a very "fast" power supply for a UCD amplifier so I want to parallel the caps together.
However I can't find a supplier for the 1500uF 63V ZL anywhere!! I need about 30 of these caps.
Regards,
Dean.

I have a whole bunch of Panasonics HFQ caps that are 120uF
I am digging out an old thread because I have the same question and no answer.
I am looking for Rubycon ZL 100V capacitor, possibly with 100uF or 220uF. The manufacturer datasheet has them but not in the Farnell or RS Components' catelogues.
Do anyone knows a supplier? in Australia or any other countries?
Regards,
Bill

They are discountinued now. The ZLG and ZLH are the replacements. Maybe you will have better luck finding these, although I'm not sure of the sonic performance.

Farnell still seems to have some stock on the website of various values.

Hi,
Distrelec/Schuricht https://www.distrelec.com/ishop/StaticHTML/shared/distrelec/ has them in Germany..the ZL as well as the ZLH.
Truely remarkably fine stuff ;-)
