I would like to know if someone has experience with these three ScanSpeak woofers:
1) 25W/8567-SE, Alu cone

Some years (10-11 maybe) ago, I built ~two 95 liter heavy sealed boxes for the SS 25W8565-00 - one layer each of 18mm mdf and baltic birch plywood. I never regretted it in terms of the SS sound quality. They sounded excellent as stereo subs.
Looking back, they were a highish Q box, somewhere ~.85 if irc, but they sounded very good with a plate amp/enclosure and propping up my mains for HT. Not a unit to blow your socks off, by any means, due to their limited SPL output (110 dB maybe?), but a very tuneful bass unit. Seated about 8 ft away and with room lift they seemed to go quite deep, and rolled off smoothly for integration above the 80 Hz crossover without muddying the mids.
Used in medium to small rooms they would work very well in a similar arrangement.
These days, however, there are many more bass/sub drivers to choose from, and the low bass needs are far more demanding. I would excercise caution on their use, or use multiples, if concert levels are a requirement.

Anyway, in my willings I will use 2 10" woofer per speaker, and also use Linkwitz Transform in a sealed enclosure.
In my 10" woofer reasearch I couldn't find many drivers, taking into account my needs:

I used these as subs only, so I had no need for the extended bandwidth you describe - up to 500 Hz. I crossed to a 6.5" Seas midbass (MTM), and the improvements to the midrange were immediately apparent, once relieved of bass duties.
I have no experience whatsoever with these units, but they looked good on paper - ha!. You probably know more about them than I do, but the comments over here, at least on their pro units, are favorable. These do lack the xmax of the SS.

The sound quality was excellent, but output was compromised. For music a sub was needed below 40Hz, and with dvd's they needed to be crossed at 80Hz for reference levels.
If you don't listen loud they will be fine down to the 20's.
Still one of the best midbass units I ever heard..

It was 120L physical, + stuffing.
Q was 0.75 (before stuffing)
I used an audiolab 8000a to power each side. Each driver connected to a single channel.

Peerless SLS 10 driver
This driver should meet your needs and move a lot more air than the Scan Speak at lower cost too. Regards Moray James.

I am running a stereo pair of twin 25W8565-01 in 90 litre cabinets (total 4 drivers) as per the ariel woofer design. I tried a LT and was not really that happy. These drivers just don't have the xmax required. I am happy with them un-equalised for music. I tend to think of them as woofers, not sub-woofers. For HT I would like a little more down low.
