I am changing my mind to go full scan-speak. ..the very best.

Troels Gravensen's ultimate ScanSpeak monitor is probably his

When I was building my MW19P-4 Satori computer desk monitors, I put together a cost comparison with ScanSpeak drivers which might interest you. 1-Speaker = SB+Satori $292 vs. ScanSpeak $653

If you decide to use a sealed 12" woofer, study this SB_Acoustics design using the SB34NRX75-2 woofer which has T/S parameters well suited for sealed alignments. Modest Efficiency

The capabilities of the woodshop often determine the design selection.

Is there a well reviewed production speaker with a cabinet shape you like and can build?

ebay has low cost ($60) 3-way analog(opamp) crossover PCBs.

Hi linesource, no, I am not going to do that.
1. I don't believe in beryllium tweeters, I have the SS 2905 series already and they cannot sound better, so I will get another same revelator pair.

I want to xo in the 400-700 hz my subwoofer in a sealed box of around 150 L and for this I cannot find a better sub than the SSpeaks, this is the most important part for me....

As the revelator 18m it allows me to XO in second order, this is my wish to have little frequency correction and stay away from the 3 order to gain momentum in the bass..

This is a preleminary XO possibility 12db per octave from the datasheets, just an idea...

625 hz and 2500hz XO:

I am going to start the construction soon. Right now I am replacing the XO from my usher with passive woofer in 1.5cu.

I hope the 13 inch in sealed box will give me the realism and low level detail, as well as the dedicated mid-range and will better in linearity my old 13 inches, 8 in alnico OB.

I have two good amplifiers to possibly drive it dual amp, and not use any resistors in series.

Yes! I have been procrastinating a lot lot lot and meanwhile gaining some knowledge. Some details.

It will be a sealed enclosure, I will try to get the speakers to stop their motions as fast as possible.

The reason is that my new amps are so good. I just want more of what they do and the only way is to go bigger, so this 3 way, with the best stuff I could find and keeping it as simple as possible.

2nd order, a non-romantic, non-classic, neutral response XO with less resistance as possible.

The faster the cones can move and follow many waves the best it will sound, my amps are not losing any of the signal and showing up everything, they are high current, low feedback and especially the SS very stable. Single ended.

My now tube amp is decent enough as well to design the speakers, there is nothing that would make me more sad than to have designed and build with precious time loudspeakers with improper amps.

I really like 845 single end, and could easy get a 6CC6 single ended but I tried to get the same sound with kt120 in pentode CF, and some great low power SS amp, reality , not fake 2nd harmonics injected by the amp.

My TT is very modest but I have a non-feedback phono from tubes4hifi, with ecc88, I would like to upgrade to a SS phono with 20xx Dynavector MC , my dac is a heavily modified emu0404, new power supply, most stuff disconnected, no filters, big caps inside, going directly to Broskie unbalancer, ecc88 best I could find all the way, but the sound is just good, it could be better but I just don't know which dac would really be better.

Maybe there is nothing like Alnico magnets and single ended amps, despite their flaws and poor detail, poor composure, they recreate the emotion and ambiance like no other.

I know that Seas are making alnico 8 inches, but I wanted a 13 inches minimum, and the 18M is reputed for ultimo in details,

So it is

D2905/990000 is it the best in dispersion blabla, people say they are edgy sounding, maybe it is their amplifiers unable to drive them clearly without problems. I want to hear the metal vibrate in all brass instruments and the ambiance the room reverberations of the event.

It works well with other 8 ohm drivers. Could be XO at 2700hz

18M/8631T00 the only acceptable midrange I could find, to cover maybe from 400-1700 - 2750?

32W/8878T01, this is the bride, she dictate the sensitivity of the whole to around 87, 87.5db/W, could be XO at 410hz ,

well.. I brought the loudspeakers in a more acceptable position and it did make a great difference,
It has less noise, less (from 55hz THD mostly 0.3% (most of second harmonics); and from 500hz 0.15% and less) , a bit of third and the rest very low.

Bad recordings make a lot more problems with these but they lack the resolving power of the commercial ones and the smoother tamer sound.

Actually, it would be wiser to XO the mid at 4100 something,

Reason: IF THEY sound acceptable in the high and don't dampen details like pulp/fiber cones does, the Dynamics will be way better as well as the realism for operating in a quasi full range fashion. (more speed and less filtering from inductors)

I just have doubts if I choose the right driver

8530k00.... 8540T00 elepticor...

Seas Alnico with the phase plug woofer

Troel's Xo them with 11 inches (Hypex xos) at 200 and 2000...

I just xo my bad 7 inches at 1900 because I could not stand them above and it removes a lot of the 'single range' fun and pleasure... and the awesomeness of the BBC high xo (reduced info at xo points and below, creating more clarity)

A tweeter drastically change character below 1500hz and it is very easy to hear this.
A good compromise would be to xo at 3175 which is still within reach, as it could be xo at 4000 without problem according to response.

I think about placing this into a 1 L small box (18M) and the XO around 160? 2n order also, but I think about xo it with tweeter 3rd order to really get the tweeter off in the 1-2k range as much as possible.

The simulator suggests a closed box of 65 L , SS manufacturer suggest the 13' to be in 75 L, and I find that 145L is also good...

There is substantial benefits at 145L... this is to be determined, I think damping completely the higher frequencies of the woofer would help and the +2db in the 40hz region will be substantial with no equalizers...
