Yep,good point, keeping all the windings neat & close together on every part of the bobbin isn't a trivial matter, I really screwed up by doing a partial layer early on, this has caused me no end of hassle making every subsequent layer on top harder to wind. Won't make that mistake again.
BTW is all this hassle worth it? Are DIY wound OPT's better than budget OPT's like a Hammond say? Not moaning or anything, I enjoy winding my own transformers & chokes, just curious.

Personally, I look at DIY audio the same way as home-brewing; you can buy the best commercial beers for a reasonable price, but the effort and money that you put on the stuff that you make, will taste like no other beer at the end!
