Than I think that hi-fi should really be called hi-precision. Hifi gets stuck on just about any products including boomboxes. I've got 50's tube console that says hifi 🙂. Sounds good to me (off course) but even I can hear it's definitively not hi fidelity.
So maybe hifi for color and hi-precision for those who don't like it colored. I must say I'm really enjoying my new preamp - gives me just the right color 🙂

What shall we rename Watts?Hifi gets stuck on just about any products
Why should we reverse the meaning of a word? Hi-Fi means high fidelity i.e. faithful to the original. It has meant that for over 60 years. The fact that it is misused as a marketing term or a slang term for cheap and nasty audio shows that as a word it has value; value which is desired even for items which do not deserve it.6V6dude said:Than I think that hi-fi should really be called hi-precision. No, hi-fi for precision. Lo-fi or mid-fi or just plain 'audio' for those who either prefer something different from the original or are just not too bothered.
