I bought these on ebay to convert a soic ad797 to dip for a phono stage but the more I look at it the less sense it makes.
These things are double sided to convert soic8 or sop8 to dip.
Am l missing something?
Can someone recommend me adapters that would work?

That one does seem to mix pins up. Normally the square pad on the DIP side signifies pin 1.
I always liked these Aries ones, though they are pricy: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/aries-electronics/08-350000-10/261925
The trace lengths are the shortest and the routing is straightforward.

Thanks! I thought I was going nuts!
I emailed the seller just for kicks, these are going to the garbage. Returning to china cannot be done obviously. They seem to be selling a sht-ton of these, if ebay stats are believable, which I don't think they are. I don't know what is happening here!

You might look at these:

You get a whole panel for $20. Last time I bought they were $10. 🙁

I don't know if Brown Dog Adapters makes these, but they are worth checking out. I have used their other adapters with good success. Come to think of it, I did use Brown Dog for AD797 and was pleased. I will admit that I had Brown Dog do the mount. That stuff is too small for a giant.
I bought from Futurlec and also from Adafruit. Futurlec's (qty=100 price) was shockingly low. And the boards worked just fine.

I usually get mine from Sparkfun. They have a wide variety of adapters, and the price is right!

These are 2 x single amp to dual amp adapters. They are correct for that application.I bought these on ebay to convert a soic ad797 to dip for a phono stage but the more I look at it the less sense it makes.

Presumably you need a single (SMD) to single (DIP) adapter? What opamp are you replacing?
Makes sense if you think of it as being an adapter to convert two single opamps in SOIC footprint to a dual opamp in DIP foorptint.I bought these on ebay to convert a soic ad797 to dip for a phono stage but the more I look at it the less sense it makes.

Bellin makes adapters for many different packages - I use these a lot for prototyping and they are wonderful.

You can get something like these from Amazon but I would imagine that the quality is very hit-or-miss.

I agree! I understand the PS caps positioning should be as close as possible to the chip and having an adapter puts them further away than I would like. Unfortunately, I am working with Sachu's riaa MC pcb. I don't quite understand why this was not designed to accommodate a soic chip directly but this is a discussion for another day.Such adapters are useful only for prototyping work. So I would suggest using them that way and then switch over to a proper PCB for the real thing.
That's 3D chess! And the ebay description didn't make the point clear.Makes sense if you think of it as being an adapter to convert two single opamps in SOIC footprint to a dual opamp in DIP foorptint.
