Ok i have this cd player from 1991, it works fine, but it just has analog outputs.
I read around it was easy to mod this player to get a digital output such as spdif.
I have attached part of the schematic diagram, it shows a CXD2500Q signal processor going to a CX02554P digital filter, and analog outputs from that.
If anyone can point me in the right direction.

it seems like they use I2S type..i guess that CX IC was used for oversampling to the TDA1543 DAC..
you could just use the I2S output, or if you want SPDIF out, you could use I2S to SPDIF converter 🙂

I think your right, the Pin 60 goes to a bit thats not wired up, and it has a label as D/O(see attached) which i assume means digital output.
So i just attach (solder) one of the wires of the spdif coaxial directly to this, and other to the chassis for earth ?
This will be fine to connect directly to my digital amp? is it that simple?

I guess there are some other parts not soldered. Please check the PCB carefully and make a picture of it. There should be some resistors, possibly a cap and a small transformer could be possible too.
As jean-paul says, there's no way that pin60 is suitable for directly outputting. Normally the levels at the IC output are too high (logic levels, whereas S/PDIF is 500mV) so will need a resistive divider and a capacitor to block DC.
you need to use a coupling caps and resistor for spdif out.

I've read 330 or 390R then the 100nf or less (X7R OK?), then 75R to ground. Enough?

To get 75R output impedance the R to ground should be bigger - try 91R and 390R. The cap also I think should be larger - use 1uF X7R.
