Hi
I am building my turntable base made of plywood. Top and bottom of the plate is glued with 6 mm aluminum. So, I need to finish about 60 mm all around the plate. Painting is problematic since plywood is not a uniformed material from that perspective - 50% of the wood is always vertical, hence, hard to finish.
I thought about veneer cover, but I have a 90 degrees corners and it won't bent that easily, I believe without breaking...
Any suggestions for me? The best would be painting or veneer, but I am not sure it will work out....

Hi,
What is stain? can't find the right translation... is it a material to apply on top?
Thanks
Its like varnish like they use on tables.
sure, varnish is very nice, but it is very hard to do on the "sides" of a plywood... Unless I am doing something wrong there... Any help and suggestion will be highly appreciated
Personally I wouldnt use plywood.
I would have bought a veneered finish wood chip or similar.
This would be a heavier base and more suitable for a plinth.
It also has veneered sides which helps.

Use some car body filler on the open grain (David's isopon p45). Put it on with a paint scraper, pushing it well into the open grain. Sand back and repeat until you have a fine finish. Then undercoat, sand back, repeat. Eventually put on your finish coat......
I've done a few like that and it works well.
