Anyone have any hands on facts on this amp? people are throwing .35 ohm numbers around and others saying its a amperage hog, and i viewed a video about how efficient it was and ground breaking circuitry , . im thinking some reviewers are getting kick backs for biased reviews . I mean the thing wieghs 7 lbs or so.. seems fishy
I've recommended this model to a few of my friends and set them up for them. I'm not a huge fan of a PIC micro being present but that aside, it's a pretty good amp. Definitely hard to beat the dollar:watt ratio.
Sink requirements drop as efficiency rises. Size and weight are not a factor to judge them by. These are also fan assisted models.
On minimum impedance, I don't run them under recommended and nobody else should either. The amplifiers are designed with a target minimum impedance in mind and maintain a target SOA (safe operating area) margin. Sure, people get away with it. But it eats up the SOA margin and reliability suffers. People also don't factor in how box rise affects the final impedance and that it differs from system to system so they assume that because one guy gets away with it, everybody will. It's a shotty WWW full of shotty information and I wouldn't make a decision for my wallet based on inconclusive information. Get the power you need at the impedance it's designed for or get a bigger amp that will. That's my .02

its seems some of these draw excessive current and shut down near 12vdc being supplied by 2 extra batteries, At 5.8 lbs how can it not over heat due to lack of solid sink ? They run them at .35 and it sounds like garbage and claim it doesn't get hot. The amp is 79% efficient and draws 300A as advertised and as you know, are the extreme best results they could manipulate as any build house brand would do.. efficiency is not what some customers are experiencing, rather the opposite. But no heat. it shuts down before heat becomes a factor..
anyone have to repair one yet?

The ones being run at .35 ohm? Define excessive. Spec the battery size and C rating. This is a technical forum full of technical people.

The effectiveness of a heat sink is not determined by weight or 'solid'ness. Rather by the chosen alloys ability to conduct heat and the overall area. The design topology and parts selected also play a part in this.

Use the search feature on this subforum. There are Taramps repair threads. I've installed a few and haven't had to repair any yet. That could be a testament to the amplifier, or the installer.
Hi
I myself have recommended these amps myself to customers and have installed alot of them. I also do not run these amps under the recommended load set by the factory. I have found these amps to work well and so have not had any of these amp that i have installed come back for repairs.
I also agree with @MatthewS that you do not judge an amp by the weight. this amp gives you value for money.
The one thing that I have found out, if your car has a good enough alternator of 120amps and above that there is no need for a second battery.
I myself have one of these amps in my car and due to the fact that my car battery is very small (motorbike size battery) i have installed a second battery. Also my alternator is only 75amps.
One important thing to remember with Brazilian amps is that they are power hungry.
Not sure if others will agree with me on the above statement but this is what i have found out working with Brazilian amps.

thanks for your input . I know this is a repair help group and what better place to get real world facts .. thanks again
I read a few but i didn't find chat on this 3kThe ones being run at .35 ohm? Define excessive. Spec the battery size and C rating. This is a technical forum full of technical people.
2 lead d31 batteries , upgraded alt (did not mention amperage), big 3, 0 guage ofc cable. The amps cutting out at 13.6vdc so either the amp is defect or ground connections , , Subs are 2 DB drive w/ final 1 ohm load.

Example of alloy ?
