I wish that I could fly
Into the sky
So very high
Just like a dragonfly

1940s Big band genre:

01 - In the Mood - Glenn Miller
02 - Swing it, Magistern! - Thore Ehrling orchester feat. Alice Babs
03 - Sing, Sing, Sing - Benny Goodman
04 - Mountain Greenery - Ted Heath & His Music
05 - All The Things You Are - The Miles Davis / Tadd Dameron Quintet
06 - Peter Gunn Theme - Harmonie Ensemble

[maybe that's too 1950s? I think it fits but may be wrong]

Galu:

Yes, that much I know. But the challenge is "1940s Big Band genre" and I believe my entry is suitable. I'm not sure the year Mr. Mancini crafted the music is relevant. What I was trying to convey was that if other members thought my entry did not sound like a 1940s big band tune, the entry could be revised or retracted.

Regards,
Scott

#3 is a sclose to the 40's as it can be. Guess many big bands started off in the 30's (or maybe even the 20's) and continued into the 40's, playing very much the same music.

Btw and fyi Thore Ehrling led his big band in the 30's and 40's and the song I referred to was recorden in 1940. It was a main character in a movie with the same name. Magister is an old name for a teacher. The film is, as I recall, about a school where anew teacher (music class???) introduces the students to JAZZZZZZZZZZZ, and the headmaster gets a brain hemmoroidal seizure of 4 Megaton.
