Hello again,

Well, I've resolved the issues we were having with the consistancy of the cables.

The problems that occured during the first round of the demo:

No silver solder
No silicon glue

The person who was soldering for us was indeed pocketing the money and using normal solder. He was also the one who was resposible for not using the silicon glue in 13 sets of cables because he ran out and didn't tell us.

So, what we had to do was replace him. Since we foresee an issue in the future with using silver solder, we are going with a tin-lead silver alloy. I apologize. I nver wanted to be misleading in anyway.

We are currently trying out some new plugs. Any opinions on Amphenol?

Hi Littlerick,

Glad you got them and glad you like the look.

Currently they sell for $89.99, but for DIYaudio members I am offering a 50% discount for a while longer. So basically they would cost you about $45 USD.

Look forward to hearing a consumers point of view!

Frank

If I had gone out today and paid the $45 which is around £30 here in the UK, I would be happy with the cables... They look nice and feel solid and well made, and I didnt cut them open to check the soldering. I dont think I would buy them at $89.. A hefty £60ish here in UK.

I plugged them in and it was a very tight solid fit on to socket. Its not something that I would be unplugging and plugging in a lot so a good solid fit is good.

As I said earlier i'm not a audiophile in any way, and to be honest, most of the music I play is distorted before it starts. That said there is a noticable difference to my previous cables, which are standard electrical shop cables.

Pro's :- Nice looking cable and plugs, Good solid fit, Definate improvement in sound quailty.

Cons :- Price a bit too high.

Had the cables a few days now and I've left my music playing through them constantly. There is a very noticable difference to the quality of sound now to when I first plugged them in.

The quality of sound has got a lot clearer, each instrument can be heard a lot better.. i'm even hearing stuff I didnt realise was there before.. I've tried a little softer music than my regular AC/DC stuff and the cables make a massive improvement over my old ones. I'm gonna be gutted when I have to swap em back to be honest.

Frank I think the cables are great, still a bit expensive for my pocket though.

Hello. Sorry I haven't responded. Been gearing up for the show in a couple of weeks.

Jase. I've only found 3 different Neutrick RCA plugs. One is solid metal and cheaper than what we use. The other is NF2CB/2 which run about $13 a set. Are there any others?

The Amphenol RCA plugs are:

I've finally recieved my Mars IC after arguing with customs. I already put them in my system instead of DIY silver IC and first impression is...very impressive. More detailed and dynamic sound compared to my silver IC.

Frank, thank you for your help and cable! I'll write back again next few days when IC will break-in.

Just an update for Frank and anyone else watching this thread. The tirnahifi review for the BlacksheepKables Venus speaker cable is now up for your perusal:

www.tirnahifi.org

The review for the Mars IC is due very soon too. Feel free to have a look around the rest of the site when you're there and also our small but friendly forum too.

Thanks to Frank for taking a leap of faith in sending out the cables.
