USB to SPDIF converter for android?

I've connected an android v5.0.2 tablet (Samsung galaxy tabA 9.7") via an On The Go cable to my existing DAC (a Cambridge audio dacmagic plus), with the intention of just using the DAC as a usb/spdif converter.

Unfortunately, whilst the tablet clearly detects the DAC (as it automatically ceases using the built-in speaker) I get no sound out from normal apps, however I do (with no other changes) from 'USB audio player pro'. That app is apparently designed around special USB audio device drivers, so I'm guessing this means that (a) the tablet and OTG lead must therefore work with USB audio but (b) my DAC presumably can't be compatible with android 5's inbuilt/native drivers. (Which is a surprise as I thought it was USB audio class1 and class2 compliant).

Does this diagnosis seem correct, and if so can anyone recommend a good yet modestly priced USB/SPDIF converter that will work with android?

Many thanks
Kev

Hi Kev06, I just noticed this post because I am looking for the same thing. I want to use an old Android 4.1 Jellybean tablet as a music jukebox with my DAC and I am actually looking for Android drivers for a 6631A converter that I already have. And usb converter should work. The key of course is whether android drivers are available. I noticed that there were no replies to your post. Were you able to find anything ? Cheers, Wardww

Hey Andrew. Thanks for that. It looks sweet. Using an small tablet as a jukebox is perfect. I just saw that foobar is available for Android now so this is a perfect way to get rid of a laptop and moving parts.

Cheers from an Aussie ex-pat in Brazil mate. Nice price too.
