. . . . there you have it folks, the blind leading the blind through a discussion of one of the dumbest ideas I've heard in quite a while.

Bill, your negativity is discouraging. I think that it was clear after a few posts that the idea is only a theoretical consideration. Having written nearly a third of the posts, I feel obliged to reply- since I am apparently blind and participating in a discussion of dumb ideas.

It's true that Shpoop is among the greenest of the newbies and his original question suggests that we go into the garage and give it a try- but that's been dismissed. To continue the discussion, what's so wrong about the idea of going to extremes to eliminate what's going on behind the cone? Apparently somebody thinks that the idea has enough merit to spend the money for a patent application.

Materials science is advancing every day, should we really crush the ideas that could take advantage of it?

yup it sure is nice to have someone discouraging creativity.

progress has never occured without innovation
advancement has never happened without mistakes

if people were discouraged from supposedly disproven, "dumb" ideas, you wouldnt have:

the telephone
the TV
the internet
airplanes
cars

the list goes on and on...and people afraid of trying 'dumb' ideas are continuously proven wrong
