Valve (tube) master clock for CD or DVD

If you're talking about a tube based master clock (to reduce jitter) that you mod onto the existing clock connections of your CDP or Dvd player, not many I know of that are still in production unless you DIY. I have an old (2007) Super Tube clock (supposedly made by Prima Luna) in a Denon DCD 620 that was used in later Ah Joeb Marantz 4000 players around that earlier timeframe.

The miniature Russian triodes are sturdy with no micro phonics that is used. But one can argue using the presented distortion from a tube for something critical such as the crystal oscillator clock to measure clean and free. I don't have golden ears to hear the big difference but who knows.

Honestly if you really want a good low jitter clock mod for your CDP or DVD player the Burson is pretty good and not that expensive compared to some of the other "audiophile" grade out there from small time modding companies which charge $400+ for something so simple.

I know a few local diy residents here that have there own clock mods.

I can't think of a good reason to use a valve for a digital audio crystal oscillator.

Me neither. Tubes only make their "magic" when used in the analog audio signal path, but not anywhere else. Oh, there's the debate about vacuum tube rectifiers, but I'm unconvinced there.

A good quality crystal oscillator, electronically located (connected) to the DAC chip (not part of a PLL) is all you need.
