Gabor,...
Nobody can tel me if the Classique-Gold speaker speech is true?
CLASSIQUE - Gold
Specifications:
Treble: Fostex FT7RP
Bass-mid: Volt BM220.8
Enclosure type: 2-way reflex
Frequency response: 30Hz-45kHz
Sensitivity (2.83v/1m): 91dBAmp requirement: 20-150w
Impedance: 8 ohm
Internal volume: 50 litres per speaker
Weight: 40Kg per pair
Dimensons (HxWxD): 910x260x300mm
For these woofer I could leave the enclosure how it was done. Otherwise please look at the pictures, a lot of work have to be done.
Greetings gabor
You keep asking the same thing.
The information is (can be) true, but there is information missing as the cut-off frequency can be -12dB, -10dB, -8dB, -6dB, -3dB, or other. It doesn't say, also, nothing about the amplitude linearity, it can be +/-2dB or other.

No doubt the sensitivity of the Volt BM 220.8 is 88.5 dB.

Hello
Yes I ask the same question because if I can use the VOLT BM220.8 woofer I do not need to do anything with my woofer enclosure. I have the 50L ready to use.
Yes a lot of info missing, I asked the company but no answer.
To me that cheating if I give -12db 30Hz. Usually it supposed to be -3db..
The truth is a lot of lies goes around in these business.
How he get from 88.5db speakers 91db sensitivity?
That is another question.
Thank anyway.
I can order a pair from Solen electronics when they have in stock but if is no good I loose the shipping cost here and back plus 10% restocking fee if they will take it back.
Of course I can not mount the woofer into the enclosure.. Headache.
I already lost a couple hundred Dollars on these project, how I wrote these is the 4th pair woofer not my taste.

Just order one driver and if you like it buy another?
I did some search for you and found a cheap driver that, -according to a simulation will have a decent bass respons. Fs 27 Hz , Vas 75 L ,Qt 0.38. I chosed 50 L and the port aligned to 27.5 Hz.
You can simulate for yourself, chose "Basreflex" then add the parameters, there will be an optimum suggestion but you can change this values. Hit return and you will get a new response.

Hello
I think I'll go with these driver from 65L
LSV Dieter Achenbach
Or I try the Volt 8" driver.
I never did sim. on drivers, I used to ask my friend but he is very busy.
I will try it of course. I want to learn.

Hi gabor!
Vb is the volume of the box, so you can write 50 (liters). Fb is the tuning frequency of the port (and box). Antal means number of drivers so the default value is one.
You can calculate the lenght of the port for a given diameter. Usually it is good to have a rather large diameter otherwise the speed of air in the port can cause noise (because too high velocity of the air passing through it) and nonlinearity. But a lager diameter of the tube can make it excessively long so a compromise has to be done
According to the Loudspeaker design cookbook an 8 inch driver needs at least a 3" tube diameter if I recall it right and as a thumb-rule.

Håkan

Hello
Do someone know these woofer?SB Acoustics SB29NRX75-6 10" Woofer: Madisound Speaker Store
I get very nice curve from 63L, sensitivity not to bad either .
How I know they do not lie with the woofer speech.
How my friend got the Monacor not 90db only 87.75db?
It is possible to get that info with out measuring the woofer with microphone?
Please I want to learn, I think I did paid the price on these 4 woofer I did tried.🙂
Thank you

Hello
I attache a picture, in these case what would be the tuning frequency?
I want to learn to calculate the reflex tube correct size.
Yesterday all they I did try to find the optimal driver.
The SB is a very nice woofer but I was warned to stay away from it.
It has a very week motor
SB Acoustics SB29NRX75-6 10" Woofer: Madisound Speaker Store
The Alcone is OK in 65L(not perfect) but a bit better than the Davis and the price is better to.
Germany quality, I have good experience with alu membrane speakers, probably I go with these
http://www.lautsprechershop.de/pdf/alcone/ac10he.pdf
And here is the Davis which is 92db, a bit pricy but still a great option, I'll think about.
Haut-Parleur de grave Davis Acoustics 25 SCA10W
Same speech like the Alcone only the Vas 9L more...
I have also good experience with carbon fibre membrane, I had Audax made in France also.
So I have the last two option, for 65L (I do modify the enclosure).
Also I want to ask guys your advise about these two woofer.
Pro and contra..Which one you would chose for 65L? And why?
Not much option left.
I do not want to waste my money on cheap drivers. Since I use Gorlich mids and Morel tweeter (both very good quality), I want to keep my eye on the quality to.
The enclosures are not bad either, solid hand made (the woofer has double and triple wall)
So thanks for the help, yes I did learn a lot!

Hello
Can someone help me with these data sheet please
There is two sensitivity in the speech and I'm confused which is the correct.
http://www.tymphany.com/files/XXLS-P835016 Rev 1_0.pdf
At the Amazon it was on sale these driver, I read these is a very good woofer all do it is 4Ohms.
It is a problem if I use 4Ohm woofer and the mids and tweeters are 8Ohms.
I already started the mods. on the enclosure.

10" woofer the way to go
Hello
I'm working on my woofer enclosure. It will be min 75L or a bit more. I spent today 200 bucks on Russian birch plywood
I will use 10" woofer.
I like these Scan speak Discovery 26W/8534G 10" woofer. Do someone has experience with these driver?
Scanspeak Discovery 26W/8534G 10" Aluminum Cone Woofer 8 ohm: Madisound Speaker Store
I read my speakers building book I can get even 45% larger enclosure if I fill it up all the way.
That is a bit to much but from 85L these woofer look nice.
There is another woofer (actually that is the best by simulation) the Seas Excel 10" driver.
SEAS Excel W26FX-001 (E0026) 10" Aluminum Alloy Cone: Madisound Speaker Store
These is 3X as expensive, the sensitivity not as good as the Scan Speak.
To me that extra 2db if the speech is OK a lot. Since my mids 92db and the tweeters 91db.
Also I have a bookshelf speaker (my favorite)I use Visaton AL130 mid woofer. Probably for diferent type of sound it would be better some other type of cone (not aluminium).
But no Kevlar to me. Somehow the Kevlar has to soft bass not my taste.
I heard a Focal Kevlar with same problem.
Very interesting I had Kevlar 5.5" driver (some Peerless or what ever) and that was very good.
I used that more than 4 years before the Visaton AL130.
Probably that last cote (what they put on the membrane, a bit sticky) made the sound soft.??
My 5.5" was not coated like the Monacor or Focal..
I check the Davis driver, to me the Scan better after the simulation, all do the simulation not everything. Sometimes a strong 34Hz better than a soft 28-30Hz.
http://www.europe-audio.com/Product.asp?Product_ID=5229
I had a pair Audax woven carbon woofer I didn't like them at the bottom (bass) but the mid was very nice.
I need a good dry bass, controlled driver with good sensitivity. The truth is so much lies come with these drivers around the VAS etc, hard to chose one.
Any idea, advise welcome.🙂

The Volt BM220.8 is a cracking unit, I think that 50L is a little too big, about 30L would be ideal at the most.
I am interested by Volt Loudspeakers since more than ten years. All I ever read about them was rave reviews. However, I never see measurements of them. Does anybody has done some or know where some are shown.
Where to buy them ? I found this :

These 10" VOLT also very nice in 80L enclosure. After the sim. a bit better than the Davis. Similar price.
