Oh yeah this would be awsome.
I‘ll take it by the „sometime“ so that it isn’t impossible right away [emoji56]

Another BA2018 came alive!
At this moment I'm going to let it play for some time to see what happens to the sound. First impression is a good one! I already like it better than my Korg B1.
Next steps could be to make a dual power supply and try an unbalanced to balanced board.

🙂 No pics yet, will make some later!
(Visualize a piece of mdf with an aluminium profile having 2 rca in and 2 rca out and a volumeknob. Behind the alu profile are a bit too long wires connected to volumepot, rca's and BA2018. Behind that there is the powersupply. It looks kinda messy….😱 )

Can anyone help me wire up the power supply and ground for my BA18?
Hello all, long time lurker, first time poster. I've been steadily chugging away at building my own version of the BA18 linestage, hoping to show off the mock-up a bit but also ask for some help. Due to the extremely short-sighted, almost criminal overzealousness of the unit's designer (me), developing a good solution for connecting up the power supply and grounding has become a challenge. The photos show the proposed layout of the line amp, TentLabs discrete volume control, and Salas JFET phono preamp boards. The power supply to be used is an AMB Labs Sigma22 located in a separate enclosure.
So, I have a very nice 7-pin industrial connector (shown in the pic) for hooking up the power umbilical. Do note, at least one pin is spoken for already, as it's got to be used for the volume control's power (it runs on a separate 5 to 10 volts). One pin may be used for connecting the power supply and preamplifier's chassis ground together, though my understanding is that this may not be necessary. This leaves the other 4 or 5 pins for the positive and negative power to the BA18 and positive power for the phono boards. What's the best move? Should I keep the left and right supplies separate? Or use separate power outputs for the BA18 and phono preamp? Same for the grounds -- I would like to try and minimize noise and channel crosstalk, obviously. Should everything be grounded together? What about separating power and signal ground? And so on. My apologies for the long question, but I don't have much testing capability unfortunately, and I don't want every connection to be a total shot in the dark.
I really, really appreciate any help you can give!! More pictures to come once it's in a more completed state!

Bonacciomj,
Tumblr apparently doesn't allow you to link externally, so, I think it would be better if you change the images to links so that people can follow them, or, even better, to just upload them here so people can actually see them.
Best,
Rafa.

Shoot. Thanks for the heads up, I will try that. I had some trouble uploading them, may have to compress them somehow... hopefully I can figure it out.

Is anyboby using this Pre Amp' who lives in the East Anglia Locality in the UK ?
This is a Pre Amp' I would be keen to hear in use.

OK, I think I've managed to upload the photos from my above post, hopefully the quality has been mostly preserved. Please let me know if there is any other issue with them! Again, just hoping for some advice for grounding and powering the unit.

Bonacciomj, yes they show up correctly. Nice rack build. I’ll leave the others to comment on grounding, as I am interested to learn myself. Could this, being an external module to the PSU, have all grounds be audio ground, and only the other enclosure have chassis ground? No idea. Would like to learn as well.
Sitting here doing nothing, I will attempt to provide an answer to the wiring question. I will do this If I am using two chassis approach via umbilical..
The resistor is 20 ohms, or use back to back diodes if you want and removed the //RC. Please prove me wrong.
