I have a new discontinued pair of these with "unconventional" parameters: A really low QTS. I have run into this before with this driver from Newark. https://canada.newark.com/multicomp-pro/55-3550/8-carbon-fiber-die-cast-woofer/dp/40P9734 and couldn't get much bass out of them (on my first and only attempt).
Has anyone been successful with either of these?

Your link is broken since nedlab.com no longer exists. I attached the pdf so others can view it. I don't know anything about the FR173B6 other than what the datasheet shows. There is an impedance and response blip at 1 KHz which might indicate problems there. Also have never used the 55-3550, but with only 1.5 mm Xmax it is going to be problematic as a woofer. WinISD shows you can get bass from it using an "EBS 6 extended bass shelf -6 dB" alignment, but it requires a 31 liter box and will exceed Xmax with any thing over 5 W. See the attached (5 W) frequency response. If another woofer is an option, look at the MULTICOMP PRO 55-5670. I've used it and it's much more suited as a woofer. Plus it's the same budget cost as the 55-3550. Good luck!
