i found 2SC5200N at a good price and the same for 2SA1943N .. the main power consumption and electrical specs are the same ... is there a problem using it as output stage instead of 2SC5200/2Sa1943?
have anyone ordered before from that site? they are authorized distributer for ST and some others

The packages are different slightly and the N sffix is a15 amp instead of 17 ampshi

The packages are different slightly and the N sffix is a15 amp instead of 17 amps
so i think this not a problem ... the amp designs most of them are not critical to that ... and i think the quality is the same
Compared to the original Japanese 2SC5200/A1943 specification, standard parts are now Chinese produced TTC5200/A1943 or similar 2SC5200/A1943 which now have a 30% smaller die but are in the original TO264 (TO3P-L) package. 2SC5200N/A1943N have the same 30% smaller die in a smaller TO3P-N package.
The lower current rating is due to the smaller die and package dissipation. Go to the Toshiba website and view the specs and PDF datasheets for yourself: Transistors | Products | TOSHIBA Semiconductor & Storage Products Company
If you buy old stock or on Ebay though, the product may be of either new or old specification or something entirely different YMMV! 🙄

A side question. I read the data sheet of 2SC5200, I notice one thing really stood out, the Cob is only 200pF, much lower than the other big transistors. The MJW3281 is 600pF. what is the significant of the Cob to the performance of the power amp?
Also, I see Fairchild has the 2SC5200 and 2SA1943. Seems the beta graph is more horizontal than the Toshiba, are they better?

when the cob is high you need higher bias to attain linearity. I have used the 5200 both versions but after listening to 2sc5949 2sa2121 it has little bit of higher cob but its SOA is 75% higher for current delivery and these are much rugged than the 5200 sonically i liked these but there is nothing wrong with 5200 1943 pair. It finally comes to the design of your VAS stage more than much thinking of the ouput transistors.A side question. By bias, you mean the idle current through the transistor? Do you know what is the reason higher Cob need higher bias current to be linear?
I am using 5 parallel stages of output transistor, I don't think I worry about SOA much. I just look at the low capacitance and maybe I should think about using this. funny the PNP always has higher Cob.
As a non-expert, I can only suggest this will bear on Ft and since people believe high Ft is beneficial to reducing wideband distortion, this leads to better audio. If using the device as a driver in a large array, this could be a bigger issue....... what is the significant of the Cob to the performance of the power amp?....
Many here have recommended Fairchild versions of the Toshiba parts which are also available in Fairchild codes. Check out FJA4213, 4215, FJA4313, 4315 for example.
I think the traditional associations of Toshiba and Sanken with Hi-fi and Motorola (On-Semi) with grunt-fi remain, making it difficult for other players to get recognition for their often cheaper and better products. This and easiest availability is what propels the DIY market, at least.

any one of you can advice me to just buy them (N types) or look for replacement such as NJW0281G/NJW0302G..i;m looking mainly for good quality and specially designed for HiFi or Pro Audio

NJWs are very good parts, and they are more rudged the the 5200N/1943N, so I would use them!

What about ONs versions 1943/5200 vs njv3281. Seen many amps in later revisons get the On Semi instead toshibas or 3281 and no change to other parts. Two examples are Copland cta520 and NAD 218

The MJL(W)3281 has a larger die than any of the C5200 variants or the original 2SC3281. If you’re looking for the best SOA of the bunch, go with the MJL3281. But you do have to drive more capacitance. The OnSemi 0281 is closer to the modern 5200 in die size. These seem to be very popular for getting those single digit ppm THDs as they give the most bang per picofarad. Fairchild’s version seems to be comparable to the old Japan 5200 TO-264 version. If you were looking for a direct replacement in a QSC amp or something where you expect to beat on it a bit, I’d go with Fairchild these days instead of the smaller modern Toshiba version.
