WTB - CMoy PCB

The Cmoy is quite nice if well implemented but there are other versions out there (opamp based headphone amplifier) that are a little better, especially when it comes to output impedance and current drive.
What headphones do you intend to use?
If 32Ohm or lower you might wanna go for a buffered opamp at least or paralleled opamp headphone amps like the O2:
JDS Labs - Objective2 Printed Circuit Board - Objective2
I believe you get this PCB from several sources, maybe even in the UK.
Search for opamp based headphone amplifier and maybe buffered ones.

If you don´t mind getting PCBs produced for yourself (which is cheaper than you think): there are many designs out there with production files included.

This one here I built myself on a home etched board once and its performance is outstanding:
Project files: OPA+BUF preamp/headphone amp | theslowdiyer
(good opamp + BUF634 basically)

I should have stated that I would like a portable/pocket amp rather than a desktop version, I've been trying to find a JDS board but they seem to only be stateside with 30 bucks shipping for a 3 dollar board!

I would happily get my own made but I have no idea about using pcb design software & struggle to find any files for layout gerbers or pcb files.

I like you linked amp I may have to build one too!

I havnt got any decent headphones yet, just KZ IEM's but I'm looking to get a set of open backs dont have a muh of a budget for them so still researching!

Thanks for your reply!

Alex

Sorry but I don´t believe you.
Have you even seen the PCB I linked to in post 8?
(and then scroll down to post 4, if that´s not too complicate)
And there are many more!!

Take an internet course if you find the time or drink stronger coffee! ;-)

The one in post 4 is in the US and cost 30 dollars for shipping :scared:, which I said in a previous post.

I'm not just saying I cant find one I'm saying the ones available are very high shipping or no longer available & unfortunately the few better designs I have found are no longer made/have no production files.

That one was out of stock last time I checked!

Ah, OK. Sorry, missed the "30 bucks". Damn, that´s a lot!
Got PCBs made at JLCPCB and they charged 7$ from China.
Maybe that´s already a Brexit thing.
Many shipping services in germany temporarily stopped shipping to the UK but DHL is still fine and normal priced..

Or make it on breadboard if you can.
It could be even smaller.

Joensd - thanks for the mention of my BUF634-project and nice to hear you like it.

@NodeJunky: I should have some spare boards of the BUF-project if you want one. I've also done a "Cmoy-style" amp, but it uses a full-size Alps-pot so I'm not sure exactly if it meets your requirements (see Moving with the times? | theslowdiyer and the original linked post). Happy to have a look if I have any spares, just drop me a PM.

I haven't shipped anything to the UK post-Brexit, but I'm guessing it's still doable for small low-value items.

I haven't used your layout Exactly, nisbeth but an opa627+buf634.
I wanted to show an example and your page came up and looked very nice. I built many of the headamps from headwize at the time and this one is still one of the best.
The buf634 is just so expensive but if you only build one..
Today I'd use the lme49600 or a discrete diamond buffer or just an output stage with bd139/bd140 like the Earle Eaton amp which I built too.
Headamps are very nice for breadboard if you take care with the layout. I believe sijosae built everything on breadboard and they are pieces of art.

Wow that guys stuff is tidy! There's so much on his site too!

Yea 30 bucks for shipping is obscene on a 4 dollar board 😱

I was looking at your 2 project you said they both look great I will drop you a PM 😀

buf chips need to be imported from mouser/digikey and those are quite expensive
