Hello everyone!
I'm currently restoring Yamaha CX-1000. But i made one big mistake.
Disassembled SW701 (Rec. out switch), cleaned...and forgot default position of the movable part. Now it's working strangely. Was unable to find any photo on the internet. Does have manual, but i have trouble decipher output code table.
Maybe someone will be able to help me? Almost restored this nice preamp (all that left is to repair SW701 and replace motor in motorized volume control).
With all respect,
Alex.

Already found it out. Now i must find VF282900 (motorized volume pot). But so far was unable to find one even on japanese sites.
From the photo I could find it looks like an ALPS RK27. If you know how many gang and the value I'm sure you can get the Alps part to match. Or the motor itself may be repairable/replaceable.Already found it out. Now i must find VF282900 (motorized volume pot). But so far was unable to find one even on japanese sites.

Resistance 10K, 4 units in stack. But with additional mounting and 5-6V DC motor.
Seems to be RK27114MC, but i'm not sure. Maybe anoyone with CX-1000 will confirm. $40 is not a big deal for fully restored CX-1000 anyway.
Also if jean-paul will read this thread: i'm interested in AD1860s. Will be good experiment with DAC replacement.
So far, everything else is working very well. My unit is 30 years old (88y) and all capacitors are ok and within tolerance! That was a Real Quality these days.

Purchased 10K RK27114MC today. Seems strange - motorized part is smaller. Case is blue instead of green. Will show photos later tomorrow. Markings are the same - 10KAX4
It's not RK27114MC. Original is slightly bigger, with some tricks had to install, smaller one. Works ok, no problems so far. Motorized control also working well. New pot is much softer to control (it's new, after all).
BTW: do not tight bracing nut to the max. It can block motor from turning pot axis freely. Volume curve is A (inverted log).
Now i will look for recapping this unit (but it'll cost more than pot replacement. If anyone have ready capacitor list for CX-1000, please, share.
Sorry for bad english.

It was the motor. I fixed it, but already installed new ALPS, so i kept this unit as a spare part. (Need to clean resistance modules, though).
My motor is out on my Volume control, how difficult was the replacement, did you have do anything special to the new one. I thinking of ordering the new control, but want to make sure I do it correctly.
Has anyone else replaced the Volume and was there any special mods that has to be done. I haven't pulled old one yet, just wanted to see if I needed to do anything special prior to pulling the old knob
Motorized volume control - Yamaha CX-1000
This is the part you need - VF282900 - it comes boxed with the motor.
