So I have a Yamaha Rx-V373 DSP, which has an RCA line level subwoofer connection which is meant for a powered sub. I got as a gift an unpowered Samsung subwoofer, that likely came from a low level speaker all in one home theater system. The Samsung sub only accepts speaker wire input (four of them I believe). I know for a fact I can't hook them directly together with some wire based converter, so being the physics student that I am I figured I could use a transistor based amplifier circuit to make the jump from one to the other essentially making the sub a powered sub. I'm hoping that someone might have an already made diagram for this kind of connection that I might be able to grab and shorten my work (not to mention lower the likelihood of me frying myself or my electronics). Anyone got something that would work?
Here is the receiver I own:
RX-V373 - RX-V - AV Receivers - Audio & Visual - Products - Yamaha United States
I don't know much about the Sub other than its a pretty standard unit.

You need a sub plate amp or a bare amp board. It's more than just transistors. 🙂. Depending on your power needs maybe 100 watts is enough? Look for a $20 TPA3116D2 amp wired for PBTL 2ohms and 100watts.
Or get a $80 class AB plate amp.
If you want more help get us size of sub driver, the nominal impedance rating(ohms), the nominal power rating (watts).

First is this what you're talking about?
TPA3116D2 2 1 HiFi Digital Subwoofer Amplifier Board 50W 50W 100W 12V 24V | eBay
Second if it is I see a power switch, power in, three correction nobs, and a input in the back that I don't recognize. I'm sure its my lack of knowledge that leads me to ask how I would get the output from the reciever to be read by this board, then output via 4 speaker wires to the sub.
Third The speaker is a Samsung unit model number PS-WTZ515 according to what I can find online it is a 1000 watt 3 ohm piece, but I can't find anything that tells me the size of the drive.

If you want anything close to 1000w at 3ohms you will need a pretty expensive Pro amp or a car audio amp. Check out Audiopipe APCL15001D.
