What do you plan to drive with the FIFO at this clock frequency?
I run everything at redbook speed into a TDA1541a DAC. To my ear it works well and covers natively 99.9% of my collection. Any hires or DSD files that pop up to play convert in real time to redbook PCM. I am happy with the results.

Today I run a WTMC at 45MHz but always run as described, so I am wasting the phase noise performance possible with lower speed crystals. If I have understood Andrea's performance results, the simple 5MHz single Driscoll circuit will give me the best possible performance at least possible cost and complexity.

Thanks,
With ian/andrea's FIFO a 5.6Mhz clock should work with 16bit+ Multibit DACs but unless I'm mistaken 11Mhz minimum will be needed to drive MCLK for AK44xx DS DACs at redbook.
Just wanted to confirm you werent using an Ak44xx DAC and I wasnt misinformed.

Hi Andrea,

If I wanted to go for the battery supply. What would I need for the use of 2pieces 5/6mhz clocks and 4 doublers?
what voltages are needed? can I parallel 2 clocks on one supply rail or wil this deteriorate the performance?
I already own 2 of Ians battery boards, can they also be used?

Hi Andrea. Great job as always.

Just a quick PCB layout question: are all SMD components on the boards on one side only? Or some (all) boards have SMD components on both sides (top and bottom)?

Thanks.

All SMD components are at the top side of the boards.

Only the LiFePo4 battery power supply boards (TWRPS-LBS-M and TWRPS-LBS-D) have SMD parts at bottom side.

With the TWRPS-LBS-M LiFePo4 battery board you can supply all the devices (2 oscillators + 4 doublers) and also our new FIFO Lite and DAC Lite if you was interested on them in the future. You also need the TWRPS-LBS-P board to recharge the batteries.

To supply 2 oscillators and 4 frequency doublers you need 12 to 18 Vdc (better in the range 15-16 Vdc) and around 240 mA.
I don't know if you can use Ian's stuff because I don't know about the available rails.

In the end my interests has lost, so update it:
