One of my favorite ways to find new music is about to happen: best of the year lists. Reading record reviews when they come out takes time and for many albums it can be difficult to tell how much the reviewer really liked/hated it. But the “Top albums of 2023” etc lists force critics to pick the albums they’ve continued to play. You still have to find the sources reviewing the genre(s) you like, but at least you no longer need to buy the album to give it a quick listen.
