Success! Zen Mod Iron Pre sounds amazing and is dead quiet. Thank you Zen Mod and Nelson Pass for sharing the design and expertise.
Thank you itsallinmyhead and 6L6 for curating and organizing the information in addition to the excellent build guide.
Thank you FrankWilker of AudioPerfect for your excellent Muses implementation and guidance in selecting the right solution.
Dialed in all the test voltages easily, and fired up first time. Sounds excellent. I was not aware of Frank’s solution until I was about 90% done with the Iron Pre. It is definitely possible to solder in his 90deg pcb solution after installing transformers but I wouldn’t recommend it. You can see where I kissed a relay with a hot iron, but only cosmetic. For now, the IR receiver is peeking through a 6mm hole in bottom plate. I will see if it will reliably accept bounced signal from the shelf under it. I brought the programming leds out of back of rotary encoder so they may be observed through the vents of case when programming the remote control. This is in front of my Aleph JZM driving Belle Kipschs and I am very happy with the sound. Thank you to everyone here on DIYAudio for their knowledge and willingness to engage in civil discourse.
