Yes I would!
That's what I wanted to hear! Thank you Christian for your response, fully understood re: immediacy of big cap current delivery.
I've not heard any Naim stuff, my current ref being Rega / ProAc - a sound I really, really like.
However, there's an 'airiness' (around the vocals in particular) with this PD 3875, particularly noticeable with any reverb in the mix, along with a level of detail retrieval which is quite arresting and which I don't hear with my current setup.
I'll report back in due course...
Cheers,
DaveB.
Yes, I would go further and say that, if I had known that you only had 1500uF on the whole amp, then that's where I would have pointed my finger first. The L//R can probably wait till later.
Power supply i am just using 4700uf for the positive and negative rail ... for the transformer i used a large toroid but i didnt know the VA rating because it didnt state on the transformer 😀(it was actually salvaged from a broken amplifier i have)
BTW here have some photos of the completed and working LM3875 amplifier i built
To get awesome bass I would recommend 20,000uf per rail. Also use a bridge rectifier with a high current rating 25A or 35A from my experience higher current rectifiers sound much better than lower ones. This is probably due to lower switching resistance. Also what is the power supply voltage? You didn't say but make sure it falls in the safe range.
