they are close to each other but way off published parameters from manufacturer.

As to be expected. The software the factories typically use collapse the T/S curves (they are not scalars), in different places.

To add to that, DATS estimates the parameters from the impedance curve instead of measuring directly (from the author).

I have found the factory numbers to be much more useful, using my T/S paramter tool to match driverss (and they have to be mesured the same day).

Er -Sibelius doesn't use the "original" Alpairs, which were launched about 18 years ago and share no components of any kind with any later versions of the driver apart from the basket. Operationally speaking it was a very different drive unit to the second and third generation models & the custom units based on those, with more emphasis on employing bending modes in a softer alloy cone than the resonant modes and direct-bonded central cap in later units (which required a complete redesign of the motor and suspension for obvious reasons). The first generation Alpair 10 went out of production about 7 years before the Sibelius was designed & launched.

There seems to be a bit of logical fallacy going on here. For example, it's not possible, from a quick look at external front / rear photographs, to tell anything about the details of the coil material and form-factor; the coil former, its materials & form factor, the T-yoke / pole-piece, its materials & shape, washer (ditto), what is plated (if at all), where and with what etc., or the precise grade of the magnet material. All of these affect behaviour, sometimes subtly, sometimes significantly. But without disassembling the drive unit -you don't actually know what's been done.

Its not my picture, its posted by Hondasnl in post 141, I really dont know how and why we ended with Alpair 10.1. As I understand, he took some time and effort to recreate plan for boxes like Sibelius and asked will it work good enough with stock Alpair 10M (which version he have I dont know) and than things go a bit sideways because Pearl work with modified Markaudio drivers

But free to use for all non-commercial undertakings.

I never did have a business brain -no wonder I'm up to the thorax as far as finances go. Still, £5,500 (gross) income per annum is better than nothing. :bawling:
Sorry to hear that Scott because I've been enjoying your MA YT vids recently. What happened? Has loudspeaker design left your country (UK assumed)?

Yes, UK-dweller here I'm afraid. ;)

Nothing really; to get a job in industry here, you really need to either know people, and / or have formal qualifications in acoustics. I have neither, so I've no chance with what few major UK brands actually remain in these countries (especially as a major focus these days tends to be toward the digital domain which isn't really my field) and the smaller specialists tend to be very much that: small, with the owners also usually being the designers, so again, nothing really available. I've looked at starting my own, but I've no funds to do so, and without significant capital behind you, the UK is a fairly closed shop for such things these days. It has been known, but usually by people in slightly different situations, who have the ability / facilities available to handle all aspects of design, production, marketing etc., or at least most. So I'm having to look elsewhere for a 'livable' income, with audio supplementing. Not happened yet but here's hoping for 2024! :)

Well good luck to you in 2024.
